UIC MannMukti

MannMukti is a national organization centered on highlighting South Asian mental health issues in a healthy, accessible manner. The organization’s mission lies in removing stigma, improving awareness, and promoting self-care.

The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is home to a chapter of MannMukti. As the Public Relations Director of the UIC chapter, I was tasked with managing the Instagram and designing merchandise for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Merchandise Design

Given MannMukti’s emphasis on uplifting South Asian mental health, I chose to pair the classic kite theme featured in the existing organization logo with peacock motifs. Peacocks are prevalent figures in South Asian cultures, often symbolizing pride, poise, and beauty. They are delicate, yet powerful, much like the mind. I kept the words and numbers featured in the design hand-lettered, in order to maintain a more genuine, human touch.

Mental Health Monday: A monthly post pattern I started with the intention of improving member engagement and providing resources for mental health on campus. Given the campus’s location in Chicago, I also provided ideas for relaxing and unwinding that involved interaction with the city.
